Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Drawing

Woo hoo! – it's the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, from of course… the *legendary* Ghostbusters.

Talk about nostalgia!

This movie was – and still very much is… just awesome.

And seeing this guy, making his way through the skyscrapers for the very first time – such a unique concept – something that captured and influenced the imagination of so many.

So yes, it's only natural – that now…

We draw him! 🙂

And by the way. Thank you very much to Hailey, for suggesting to make the lessons easier to follow – by making the part you just drew, grey (gray), and the part you're going to draw next, black.

I've incorporated this idea, into the lesson here. And I really think it will help.

Also, I've faded the frameworks out even more so – for when it comes time to draw your lines.

OK – to the lesson!

How to Draw the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters

It's quite clear from watching the movie, Stay Puft is HUGE!

And when it comes to drawing him, here as a simple cartoon… we can certainly break his structure down, into a series of simple shapes.

Having our character face us straight on…here's how it all begins, two circles – and some dividing lines…

Next up, we know he's got some volume to his body – his head, torso, and limbs – looking quite round in shape, areas bulging out – looking sort of 'bubbly' if you will. 🙂

So then…

Next let's map out the beginning of his limbs – nice bright green shapes (for visuals)…

Right on.

And next, go ahead and complete the structure of his limbs. I've got my version of Stay Puft Marshmallow man, standing straight – with his arms up in the air.

How does yours look?

Is he sitting down? Is he standing on one leg? Is he jumping on cars!?

Change the shapes accordingly…

OK.

Now with a bright orange, go ahead and map out those last few *distinctive* features – those which of course…

Make 'Stay Puft', Stay Puft.

Hat? Check.

Collar? Check.

And we're drawing!

OK.

First thing then, let's provide a window to his soul – by of course… bringing into view – the eyes.

And mark off the upper part of his collar. It's a key feature that must be in place earlier on, as here – his head will appear tucked behind it, sort of like this…

Neat.

Thanks again Hailey – as this part is where the grey lines come in.

Fading out what we've drawn already to grey, the black lines which follow (subsequently toward the very end of the lesson), show you what's next – and nice and clear at that.

Here's the head, collar and body now, taking shape…

Wait a second.

This isn't the "Stay Puft" I remember!?

All he wants to do – is give you a great big hug.

Oh well. Hugging Stay Puft Marshmallow man, it is. 🙂

Here's his hands, coming into view…

In behind now (see how we're working toward the back – depth taken into account!?) – draw the parts of his arms, those which connect to his torso.

And give the legs a beginning, as well…

So the rest of Stay Puft Marshmallow Man's legs – simple circles (in part) really… are pretty straight forward.

Go for some details now.

Start off the hat, as follows.

Complete the collar too – with a couple more lines…

Yeah, you know what?

We're just about done!

There's his hat, and that little red bow-like part, sitting underneath his collar.

He might just look cool with a bow tie. Give it a shot! 🙂

OK – the lines.

There he is, sharp – complete – black and white…

And colored…

Great! Yes, very nice in deed.

Was so much fun to create!

Think I'm going to go watch Ghostbusters now, and see the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man once again, strutting down the streets of New York City.

And come to think of it… we should draw Slimer too, at some point.
